When a substance undergoes a phase transition due to a temperature change, a change in thermal energy occurs.

Shape memory alloys are alloys that have the property of returning to their original shape when heated above a specific temperature, even after being deformed. The manifestation of shape memory is due to a phase transformation (martensitic transformation). By capturing the thermal energy changes during the transformation using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), we measured the transformation temperatures of three types of shape memory alloy products and investigated their relationship with composition through elemental analysis.
